About AWANA
AWANA is one of the largest, nondenominational children's and
youth ministries in the world. It stands for, "Approved Workmen Are
Not Ashamed," 2 Timothy 2:15. AWANA clubs are active in more than
110 countries around the world and their mission is to "help
churches and parents raise children and youth to know, love and
serve Christ." AWANA night is a time for children to learn
God's Word and have fun. If you have any questions Email
Us.
AWANA is fun and a great way to:
- help build an enduring biblical faith
- provide healthy peer relationships
Children are divided by age group so that they are with their
peers and participate in age-appropriate activities and Bible
lessons:
Cubbies: Ages 3-5 years (must be 3 years
old by September 1)
Sparks: Kindergarten - Grade 2
Truth and Training: Grades 3-6
AWANA Club Meetings: Wednesday nights from
6:25-8:00 p.m. in The Chapel's Family Life Center,
during the school year.
Ages: children age 3 through grade 6. (Your
child must be potty trained to be in the Cubbies program.)
All groups participate in the following:
Opening Ceremony. A time to prepare hearts and
minds for the rest of the nights' activities.
Handbook Groups. These are small groups where
children recite the verses they have memorized during the week. The
children work at their pace, but we suggest two pages per week in
order to complete the books. Your child will be rewarded with
patches, pins and jewels to wear on the vest or shirt.
Council Time. This is the time where the
children hear a Bible story or object lesson. We have missionaries
or guest speakers throughout the year. During this time, we also
recognize the children who have earned awards.
Game Session. This is a favorite of all the
kids. Tug-of-war, dodge ball, root beer relays, and lots more.
Large Group Closing. Back in the Family Life
Center for closing announcements, prayer and dismissal.
